#T.E.A.C.H. requires all candidates pursuing admission to the program to provide evidence of the following:

Admissions Requirements
​​

To be admitted to the #T.E.A.C.H. program you must verify having met the following requirements:
​

Possess a bachelor’s degree or higher from an institution that was regionally accredited at the time the degree was earned.

Submit “Official” Transcript(s) that indicate a GPA of 2.95 or higher and list the date and type of degree granted.

If you do not have a 2.95 GPA, you can still be admitted using our Cohort GPA Method. With this method, if you have a 2.50-2.94 GPA and the cohort you are entering will still have an average GPA of 2.95 after adding in your GPA, you can still be considered for admission. For the Cohort GPA you must also complete a Virtual Interview.

After being admitted, you must gain full enrollment by meeting the following requirements:

Complete all required paperwork

Pay your enrollment fee

Pay your program fee (in full or by selecting a payment plan and making the first payment).

After being enrolled, to receive your official eligibility letter from #TEACH for teaching fields that #TEACH has been approved to offer, one of the following must be met prior to October 1 of the school year:​

#TEACH must be able to verify a passing score(s) on the current required Alabama-approved Praxis Subject Assessments as outlined on the Available Teaching Fields & Testing Requirements for #T.E.A.C.H Chart OR;

For teaching fields for which there are currently no Praxis Subject Assessments available, you must document;

having earned a non-education major in a teaching field (e.g., dance rather than dance education) OR
-
having earned at least 30 semester hours of credit, including 18 semester hours of upper-division credit in the teaching field of the program being completed.

3. Additionally, you must have completed a Criminal History Background check by
both the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation (ASBI) and the Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) and be deemed suitable and fit to teach under Alabama State
Law.
NOTE: A pedagogy assessment is not required for program admission, however, it will be required prior to Issuance of a Professional Educator Certificate.

To obtain your CCTF after the official eligibility letter from #TEACH is obtained, you must:

Seek employment by contacting an Alabama county/city superintendent or eligible nonpublic/private school administrator to obtain a teaching position in the teaching field on the eligibility letter.

If employment is secured, the Alabama county/city superintendent or eligible nonpublic/private school administrator must submit, on your behalf, the complete application packet for a Conditional Certificate in a Teaching Field (CCTF).

To obtain your CCTF beyond year 1

To qualify for employment beyond year one, #TEACH must be able to issue you a Continuation Letter. To receive this letter, #TEACH must be able to confirm your continued enrollment and verify you are on track to complete all #TEACH requirements within the allotted timeframe.

#TEACH must also be able to determine you have not and will not exceed the certificate cap and are eligible to hold additional CCTF certificates.
To obtain your Professional Educator Certificate (PEC)

For individuals who complete LESS THAN three full years of teaching experience while holding the CCTF: A passing score on the edTPA assessment is required for issuance of an Alabama Professional Educator Certificate (PEC). EdTPA must be completed while employed and while holding to CCTF.

For individuals who complete three full years of teaching experience while holding the CCTF: A passing score on the appropriate PLT is required for issuance of an Alabama Professional Educator Certificate (PEC) ​​​
